Blossom Radar

HOW WE MEASURE

Evidence you can inspect.

Radar measures whether cloud providers report that a Server size can be ordered in a region. It does not measure workload uptime or guarantee a successful allocation.

Hourly observations

Collectors read the Hetzner Server Types API and DigitalOcean Sizes and Regions APIs every 55 minutes. Each observation records the exact size, region, architecture, price and timestamp. We keep separate collection sources internally; public comparisons use one selected source per provider.

Four supply states

History and collection gaps

A sample represents at most one hourly interval. Longer gaps remain unknown. Current supply becomes unknown after two hours without an observation. “Available while observed” divides available time by available plus unavailable time. “Window observed” shows how much of the selected window has evidence; always read these together.

History imported from Blossom starts on October 19, 2026. Older collection compressed unchanged observations; that archive is preserved at its original resolution. Historical DigitalOcean records reflect the earlier collector’s interpretation of missing regions as unavailable. New observations mark those cases unknown.

Local times

Dates, chart labels and interval tooltips use your browser’s time zone and date format, including daylight saving changes. The footer identifies that zone. Without JavaScript, times remain labeled in UTC. Stored observations and snapshot timestamps always use UTC.

Blossom picks

An optional x86 shortlist in three capacity tiers: 2 vCPU / 4 GB, 4 vCPU / 8 GB and 8 vCPU / 16 GB. Hetzner candidates are cx23/cpx22, cx33/cpx32 and cx43/cpx42. DigitalOcean candidates are s-2vcpu-4gb, s-4vcpu-8gb and s-8vcpu-16gb. Each region gets at most one pick per tier: the lowest-priced candidate that meets the evidence requirements, comparing only matching currencies and price bases. A tier with incompatible price bases or insufficient evidence has no pick; the full catalog retains the alternatives. A pick is specific to a region; it does not mean the size is best for every workload or the cheapest option.

To earn a badge, the size must have a known positive price, a fresh available observation, and at least 80% of the last seven days observed as available or unavailable. At least 95% of that observed supply time must be available. Unknown and not-offered time cannot establish supply coverage. Picks always use seven days, regardless of the chart window. Sparse or stale evidence means no pick yet; all sizes remain available in the unfiltered view.

Provider prices

Prices remain in their original currencies. Hetzner shows the API’s monthly gross quote, including its quoted tax. DigitalOcean shows its monthly list price. Prices can vary by region and do not include every possible charge, discount or account-specific tax. Consult the provider before purchasing.

Built with Blossom

Radar helps developers choose Servers for Blossom BYOC (bring your own cloud), and gives Blossom recommendations a public evidence trail. Provisioning and recovery do not depend on Radar being online.
